Description

The experience begins at the operational base located in El Chaltén (Av. San Martín 872). The guides provide the necessary technical and safety equipment for the activity. Once equipped, participants will travel by van for about five blocks to the river. On the banks of the Río de las Vueltas, a technical and safety briefing is given, covering how to hold the paddle, instructions for moving forward, turning, and reversing, so that the entire team paddles in sync. The first section of the river has calm waters with meanders that offer beautiful views of Mount Fitz Roy and its satellite peaks. The total distance is about 6 km, during which participants enjoy traversing areas of Andean forest and emerging onto the steppe. It is common to spot birds (condors, upland geese, ibis, among many others) and native fauna (foxes, armadillos, guanacos). This section allows for admiring the scenery and practicing paddling and safety techniques. In the second 10-km section, the river flows through a natural canyon, creating approximately 20 Class III to III+ rapids. The trip takes about two hours on the Río de las Vueltas, offering time for sightseeing and a good dose of action and adrenaline. Upon disembarking, a comforting snack (a hot drink and something tasty to eat) is provided. From the bridge on Provincial Route 23, the vehicle awaits to return to the operational base.

Includes:

Technical and safety equipment: Wetsuit (3 mm). Fleece jacket. Jacket. Life jacket and helmet. Neoprene boots. Mittens.
